BEATA BOCEK (CZ)
.
Fragile songwriting on the border between folk, improvisation and a distinctive language of emotions
Beata Bocek, a Czech-Polish singer-songwriter, is one of the distinctive voices of the contemporary authorial scene, moving between folk, world music, and intimate songwriting. Her music blends personal expression with subtle poetics and a natural musicality that transcends both language and genre.
Her work is rooted in a deep connection to emotion, memory, and inner experience. Alongside Czech and Polish, she also sings in her own “inner” language, created intuitively in the moment. This authenticity, and her ability to communicate directly without the need for literal understanding, make her resonate strongly even in an international context.
On stage, she combines accordion, guitar, and ukulele, using live looping to build a distinctive, layered sound. Her concerts lean towards a meditative experience—fragile and focused, yet surprisingly dynamic.
At Czech Music Crossroads, she will present, among other works, songs from her latest album Bílo, which reflects personal transformations, relationships, and the journey back to oneself.
