SUSTAINABILITY
Czech Music Crossroads is committed to responsible event organization and has long been striving to minimize its environmental impact. For us, sustainability is not just an empty buzzword – it is reflected in every aspect of the festival’s organization, from transportation and venue selection to supporting the local economy.
Czech Music Crossroads is deeply committed to sustainability and responsible event organization. We continuously strive to minimize our environmental footprint and implement sustainable practices at various levels of the event.
The festival takes place in the very center of Ostrava - Poruba, which allows us to collaborate closely with local shops and restaurants instead of building large temporary infrastructures. This approach supports the local economy while significantly reducing the ecological impact. Thanks to the excellent walkability of the location and its easy access by public transport, we encourage visitors to choose environmentally friendly travel options.

Recycling and waste sorting
At Czech Music Crossroads, we pay attention to every detail – including where cups, packaging or programs end up after use. Recycling bins for plastic, paper and mixed waste are available throughout the festival grounds, both indoors and outdoors. In cooperation with the municipal company OZO Ostrava, we’ve ensured there are plenty of collection points to make sorting waste as easy and natural as possible for our visitors. We believe that every sorted item makes a difference, not only for the environment but also in spreading a culture of responsibility.

Waste-Free Drinking Water
Sustainability starts with water. That’s why we’ve embraced the refill culture and made it our mission to reduce single-use plastics. At the festival venue, you’ll find outdoor drinking fountains and, in the conference area, dispensers with refreshing mint water – a simple way to stay hydrated without resorting to bottled drinks.
Wherever possible, we use porcelain and glassware. And when single-use cups are necessary, we always encourage participants to reuse them with a simple message: Sign your cup. A small gesture, a big impact, a smaller waste.

Digital Information, Less Paper
At Czech Music Crossroads, we prioritize digital solutions. Instead of printing thousands of leaflets and programs, we use large LED screens and prominent information panels to share up-to-date schedules and essential details with our visitors – all without generating unnecessary waste. This approach not only saves paper, but also allows us to respond quickly and flexibly to any last-minute changes.
