Traditional Japanese songs transformed into a vibrant global folk experiment
Billyrrom is a band that creates next-generation pop music by fusing diverse influences such as soul, funk, and rock. Their annual one-man live shows consistently sell out.
They have received high acclaim both in Japan and internationally, including being selected as one of 25 artists out of over 1,000 worldwide for Fender NEXT, winning the “2024 Rookie of the Year Recommendation Award” from NetEase Cloud Music in China, being selected for Spotify’s “RADAR: Early Noise 2025,” and receiving the “Best Alter Artists” award at TOKYO ALTER MUSIC AWARD 25, presented to the most outstanding alternative artist of 2025.
On YouTube, nine of their music videos have surpassed one million views. They have reached the Top 10 on viral charts in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, and their songs have been featured on playlists across nine Asian countries.
In 2024, they performed at major domestic festivals including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, as well as large-scale events in Taipei and Taichung.
In 2025, they embarked on a six-city Japan tour in support of their first album WiND, with all shows - including their Taipei THE WALL performance - selling out. They also performed at major festivals across Japan such as SUMMER SONIC (Osaka & Tokyo), JAPAN JAM, VIVA LA ROCK, METROCK, and SWEET LOVE SHOWER, in addition to live performances in South Korea, Xiamen, and Shanghai. In November, they released their third EP Jupiter=, which was added to numerous international playlists and attracted significant attention.
In 2026, they will launch their first Asia tour starting in February, covering five cities: Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Taipei. They are also confirmed to perform at the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia in May and Czech Music Crossroads in the Czech Republic in June. Further appearances at festivals and events around the world are planned, with even greater global expansion anticipated.
The band name reflects their deep respect for the unwavering spirituality of the jazz pianist Bill Evans and the nomadic spirit of the Romani people, expressing their desire to transcend borders and deliver music across places and cultures.
Their ever-evolving sound has been described as “Tokyo Transition Soul.” With their forward-thinking musicality and unstoppable momentum, Billyrrom continues to push boldly into a new era.
