CLARINET FACTORY (CZ)

.

Clarinet quartet connecting classical, jazz and experimental soundscapes

Clarinet Factory has been one of the most distinctive Czech musical projects for over three decades, operating at the intersection of contemporary classical music, jazz, and experimental sound. Since their beginnings at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the quartet of clarinetists has been systematically developing its own musical language - one that transcends genre boundaries and is built on precise work with sound, rhythm, and space.

Originally focused on interpreting classical repertoire, they gradually shifted towards original compositions, blending the acoustic sound of clarinets with electronics and contemporary production approaches. Their music is both minimalist and hypnotic, based on repetition, detail, and subtle transformations that draw listeners into a deeply focused listening experience.

Clarinet Factory regularly performs at prestigious international showcase festivals such as Classical:NEXT and Mundial Montréal, and has collaborated with artists including Bobby McFerrin, Iva Bittová or Lenka Dusilová. They have received numerous awards, including the Classic Prague Awards for crossover, and their album Pipers was ranked among the best world music recordings of the year by WMCE.

At Czech Music Crossroads, they will present, among other works, music from their latest album Towers (2024), which confirms their ability to push the boundaries of acoustic sound towards contemporary, internationally resonant music.
