HRUBÁ HUDBA (CZ)
A Moravian fusion of folklore, electronics and nu-jazz like you've never heard before
Hrubá Hudba is a unique concert project that brings together seemingly incompatible elements – the authentic sound of Horňácko folk music performed by Horňácká muzika Petra Mičky, electronic compositions by Jiří Hradil, and the nu-jazz energy of the band Lesní zvěř. The project was born from the acclaimed double album Hrubá Hudba (Indies Scope, 2019), which offers a dialogue between tradition and modernity, folk song and sonic experimentation.
The roots of this collaboration go back to 2009, when Horňácká muzika featured on Lesní zvěř’s debut album. Since then, the project has evolved through joint concerts and performances at festivals such as Colours of Ostrava, Beseda u bigbítu, International Folklore Festival Strážnice, or the Teče voda, teče concert at Prague’s Rudolfinum.
Hrubá Hudba is more than just a fusion – it’s a respectful yet bold encounter of two musical worlds, unlike anything else in the Moravian music scene. Original folk songs are transformed into contemporary compositions whose beauty remains intact, only enhanced by touches of electronics, hip hop, and pop rock.
