STROMORADIE (SK)
A musical encounter of technical virtuosity and sonic imagination
Stromoradie is a new project by violinist, composer, and arranger Stanislav Palúch, blending Slovak folklore with elements of jazz and world music. The band emerged as a natural continuation of its members' previous collaborations in other formations, this time with a focus on original compositions, irregular rhythms, polymetric structures, and a distinctive musical expression. Stromoradie’s music moves along the boundary between tradition and modernity, drawing inspiration especially from classical music, jazz, Balkan, and Slovak folk music.
The quartet features a notable lineup of three instrumentalists: Stanislav Palúch (violin, frame drums), Marcel Comendant (cimbalom), and Peter Korman (double bass), joined by vocalist Simona Hulejová. Her vocal style is rooted in folk songs as well as jazz, bringing both authenticity and an innovative approach to vocal expression. Within the quartet’s sound, Hulejová’s voice is often used as a fully-fledged musical instrument.
Stromoradie has already performed successfully on stages in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic, offering a concert experience with international reach. Their music is a mosaic of colorful moods, where composed parts naturally blend with improvisation – and where tradition meets the present.
